FAQs

How is Willow® 3.0 different from other wearable pumps?

Willow 3.0 is the only wearable pump that’s 100% leak-proof when using our Spill-Proof Milk Bags. It’s designed with a patented continuous latch that never releases the nipple, mimicking a baby’s natural nursing rhythms and leading to optimal milk output. There are other wearable pumps that imitate this in-bra design but do not offer 360° of true leak-proof mobility.

It's also the only in-bra wearable pump that offers two ways to pump and store your milk — choose from the leak-proof, self-sealing, ready-to-store milk bags, or reusable containers. The reusable containers are leak-proof up to 180°.

How do I use the Willow® 3.0 Pump?

The How to Use Willow 3.0 Guide includes everything you need to know about assembling, using, and cleaning your new Willow 3.0 breast pump.

What are the differences between Willow 3.0 and Willow Go?

Willow 3.0 offers complete leak-free mobility when pumping with our Spill-Proof Milk Bags. With its gravity-defying continuous latch technology, you can pump in any position, from bending over to laying down. Willow Go does not offer the same 360° mobility — instead, it offers 45° of leak-proof mobility for moms who will not be moving as much when pumping.

Willow 3.0 also offers more milk storage options. It’s compatible with our Spill-Proof Milk Bags and reusable containers, while Willow Go is only compatible with reusable containers.

Both pumps are app-connected, but Willow 3.0 is built with smart sensors that send real-time output information to the app — allowing you to track your milk volume while you pump. When pumping with Willow Go, you can enter your volume manually. Finally, you can manage your session from your Apple Watch when using Willow 3.0, while Willow Go can only be controlled via the app on your phone.

Check out our comparison page for more, or take our pump quiz to decide which pump is right for you.

Is Willow 3.0 covered by insurance?

Most moms get up to 40% (as much as $159) off their Willow 3.0 pump and accessories through insurance. Use our Insurance Verifier to check your coverage and purchase your discounted pump.

As you navigate through this process, start with our guide on how to get a breast pump covered by your insurance. It gives you all the questions that you need to take to your insurance provider to understand how to obtain coverage and the costs involved.

Can I use my HSA/FSA?

Yes, you can. Simply pay for your breast pump, milk bags and accessories using your FSA/HSA debit card at checkout, or pay with another credit card and submit your receipt to your plan administrator for reimbursement.

Do you offer financing?

Yes! We partner with Affirm to offer split pay and installment payment plans for the Willow Wearable Breast Pump. Learn more about our financing options.

Do I need to use Milk Bags with Willow 3.0?

No, Willow 3.0 is the only pump that offers the option to pump into Spill-Proof Milk Bags or Reusable Containers. Milk Bags enable total 360 degree mobility, while Containers offer 180 degree mobility, superior to other wearable pumps.

What are the new features for Willow 3.0?

We’ve re-engineered how Willow pumps to yield more milk per session–and offer more comfort and control. Generation 3.0 has a slower, softer pumping rhythm and a sensitivity setting for comfort, plus new Smart Suction Technology that adjusts based on your preferences to help you get more milk. Compatible with our new app exclusively for Generation 3.0, which offers fast, easy pairing and step-by-step onboarding.

What does the Willow 3.0 app do?

Our easy-to-pair app lets you control your pump and track your milk output in real time, plus view pumping history. The app is available for iOS 14 and higher and Android OS 10 and higher. Check the list of compatible devices to see if your phone can be used with the Willow pump app.

What can I do with the Willow 3.0 app for Apple Watch?

Start and pause your pumps, increase and decrease suction, track your pumping session in real time, and check your pumps’ battery levels. When Willow 3.0 isn’t in use, glance down at your watch to see when you last pumped. Willow 3.0 for Apple Watch is compatible with watchOS 8 and above, and Apple Watch Series 3 or later.

Can I pump using my Apple Watch and leave my phone at home?

No. Willow 3.0 for Apple Watch is a companion app, meaning that it uses data from the Willow 3.0 app on your mobile phone. Therefore, your phone will need to remain within ~30 feet of your watch during your session.

Does Willow 3.0 work with larger breast sizes?

Yes. Willow was designed to work with larger breast sizes including G and H bra cups. (Plus, your flange size and your breast size are not necessarily related, since pump fit is dependent on the width of your nipple, not the size of your cups!)

We strongly recommend measuring yourself to determine your Willow flange and insert size as it might be different from other pumps you’ve used. Visit our sizing guide or check out our exhaustive guide on how to measure your flange size which includes pro tips from Willow’s lactation consultants.

Do I need a special bra for Willow 3.0?

No. But Willow 3.0 works best with a pumping or nursing bra that’s snug and stretchy (no underwire!) with full coverage so just the top of the pumps peek out. Avoid bras with underwire or padding. The Daily Pumping Bra is designed specifically for Willow pumps, making it a great choice for optimal comfort and output.

What do you mean by hospital grade suction strength?

We know every ounce matters when it comes to pumping and breastfeeding, so we engineer and test our pumps to optimize milk expression and comfort. Willow 3.0 and Willow Go have a wearable, in-bra design, with a suction range and strength that is comparable to traditional double electric and hospital grade pumps. Willow 3.0 offers a proprietary continuous latch suction and unique pumping waveform with up to -245mmHG maximum suction. Willow Go offers maximum suction up to -280mmHG. Willow pumps are closed system pumps, just like hospital grade pumps.

While Willow’s suction strength is equivalent to hospital grade pumps, Willow pumps are single-user and have been clinically tested with established milk supply. Consult your health care provider if you are seeking to initiate lactation with a breast pump.

Will Willow 3.0 still work if I produce more than four ounces on each side?

Our Spill-Proof Milk Bags and Reusable Containers hold up to 4 oz of milk (8 oz total). Willow 3.0 automatically shuts off when your Milk Bag or Container is full. If you pump more than 4 oz in a single session, you can easily switch out the bag or empty the container and continue pumping.

Does Willow 3.0 have a warranty?

Yes! Willow 3.0 is covered under a 12 month warranty from the purchase date, and pump accessories — all replaceable pump parts including but not limited to flanges, FlexTubes™, containers, milk bags, diaphragms, duckbills, chargers and sizing inserts — are covered under a 90 day warranty. Please review our warranty policy.

Since breast pumps are single-user devices, use by more than one person, including purchasing second hand, will invalidate the warranty. Please keep your original proof of purchase from onewillow.com or an authorized retailer as it is required to exercise your warranty.

Willow cannot be used with any charger that is not provided with the pump or purchased as an accessory from Willow. Usage of third-party charging accessories is unsafe, may cause serious damage to your pump, and will invalidate the warranty.

Can I return Willow 3.0?

Breast pumps and accessories are regulated as single-user products, and cannot be returned once the safety seal has been broken. See our returns policy.

• You can return an unopened Willow Pump within 60 days of the purchase date. If you decide to return your unopened pump or accessories, you must contact us to start the return process and to obtain a RMA number. Please review our return policies.

• Only products purchased from onewillow.com may be returned directly to us. For products purchased from our retail partners, please follow their instructions.

• Willow pumps are single-user medical devices and returns must be new, unopened (no seals broken), unused, and in the original packaging.

Great Pumps, a must for wanting to move and pump

The Willow Pump is so convent for being on the go for work or working around the house. Being able to move and not be tied to one place is a game changer. Fits comfortably in nursing bra, do not need a pumping bra unless you just happen to like the fit (I have both but never had to use the pump holders) I wear the Sweat and Milk brand. Love them too.

PS. This is my second baby, I nurse exclusively and pump at work. I have used the same Willow 3.0 Pumps, and purchased new pump parts for baby two.

    Great portable pumps!

I'm not sure why, but I get more output with these pumps than with my spectra! They're a little bulky and you can definitely tell I'm wearing pumps in my bra, I mean it looks like I have DDDDs, but it's worth it and you can still move around and do things without being tied to a pump machine

The best investment I’ve made in baby care

LIFE CHANGING. Do you hate not feeling productive? Do you need to go back to work in a hospital where there is no time to sit and pump because your call lights are constantly going off and your phone is ringing? BUY THIS PUMP. I recommend it to all my fellow nurses and fellow new moms. The FREEDOM is worth the learning curve. The customer service is INCREDIBLE and has helped me so many times. You might see reviews from others that this product is hard to use. Stick with it. The learning curve is steep but once you get it, you will LOVE this product. I can travel, I can go back to work, I can do whatever housework I need to do and still feed my baby. This pump extended my breastfeeding journey. This pump made going back to work so much easier. This pump is my best friend in my breastfeeding journey. I cannot recommend it enough.

    Great Volume Pumps!

I got this pump because I was tired of only getting 2-3 oz from a competitor wearable after changing parts. Love this pump! I get amounts comparable to my Spectra and there’s only 3 parts to clean per pump which Is do nice. I really like the pump to bag or container options as well. Big Willow fan now!
